Honor Veterans with a Visit to Orlando Science Center
From November 2 to 15, Orlando Science Center is celebrating Veterans Day by offering free admission for veterans and active-duty military personnel, alongside a 50% discount for their families. This commendable initiative, supported by Lockheed Martin, provides an excellent opportunity for military families to spend quality time together while engaging in education and exploration.
Meaningful Wreath Ceremony
On November 11, the center will hold a heartfelt Veterans Day wreath ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Red Tails Monument in Loch Haven Park. Although the Science Center will temporarily close on this day as part of its regular closure schedule, the wreath ceremony continues to honor the bravery and commitment of our armed forces. Attendees can expect a color guard presentation and the somber notes of Taps played in remembrance of veterans who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
Exciting Exhibits Awaiting Exploration
During the military appreciation promotion, families won’t be short of fun or learning opportunities. November is also Astronomy Month, and visitors can delve into space exploration through educational programs about planets and stars. Children can enjoy activities like Creative Constellations Storytime in KidsTown and flight experiences in the Flight Lab, an interactive exhibit powered by Lockheed Martin.
Adventure and Discovery with Animal Encounters
The new exhibits also include ‘Extreme Sports: Beyond Human Limits,’ allowing adrenaline seekers to engage in virtual flight and rock climbing challenges. For those who love animals, the ‘Life’ exhibit by Dr. Sarah Layton showcases unique ecosystems teeming with life, making it a fantastic visit for families looking to combine fun with learning about nature and conservation.
Connect, Explore, and Create Family Memories
Whether you're a local family or a tourist visiting Orlando, this initiative is a perfect occasion for a day of adventure. With hands-on exhibits, exciting science demonstrations, and unique experiences like the full-dome planetarium presentations, families can bond and create lasting memories—celebrating both their loved ones who served and the wonders of science.
