This year’s Halloween pop-up event at The Courtesy Bar, Nightmare on Orange, has returned to enchant foodies and drink enthusiasts in Orlando from September 22 to October 31. With a unique menu of seasonal craft cocktails and captivating decorations, it’s a great way to celebrate Halloween in style. But remember, reservations are required for parties of four or more and fill up quickly. If you’re in a smaller group, you may still snag a spot spontaneously during the week, but be wary as October approaches!

Upon our visit, we were warmly welcomed by Dan, our host, who guided us to a cozy booth offering a picturesque view of the bar. As we settled in, the atmosphere was alive with seasonal decorations, and the ambiance made it a perfect setting for sipping on festive drinks. The cocktail menu invited excitement, featuring 12 unique concoctions—all crafted by knowledgeable mixologists.
One standout was the Freak of the Week ($17), blending vodka with an unexpected mix of onion, pickle, and poblano pepper, creating a savory drink that lingered between a dirty martini and a Bloody Mary. Those seeking tropical vibes would gravitate toward the Inner Demons ($18), which bursts with rum, cinnamon, and enticing citrus served in a playful devil mug. It encapsulates what drinking at Nightmare on Orange feels like: eccentric, fun, and utterly delicious.

Every good cocktail needs a fantastic dish to pair with it. We opted for the Swine & Sons Brussels sprouts ($12) and the Chiang Mai Chicken Nuggets ($12). The Brussels sprouts are drizzled with hot honey, while the nuggets boast just the right amount of kick—both encourage endless snacking as you savor your drinks.
To finish, I sampled the Deathsquads ($17), a glorious mash of rum, chocolate flavors, and a smokey touch of chipotle bitters served in a skull mug adorned with an edible orchid. The drink was as theatrical as the ambiance, and the flavors delighted. Meanwhile, my husband was suggested the PB & Slay ($18), a cocktail charmingly named and richly flavored, merging rye whiskey with peanut butter and strawberry amari. This drink not only tasted great but also came with an adorable PB&J garnish!
