Celebrity Equinox, the first Celebrity Cruises Ship Based in Port Canaveral, Launches a Winter Schedule of Week-Long Caribbean Cruises December 7, 2024

Port Canaveral, FL – December 7, 2024 – Celebrity Equinox arrived at Port Canaveral this week, making history as the first Celebrity Cruises ship to sail from the popular Central Florida Port. The 2,850-passenger Celebrity Equinox becomes Port Canaveral’s 15th vessel to call the world’s second busiest cruise port home.
 
“We’re thrilled to welcome Celebrity Cruises as our newest cruise partner and excited to have Celebrity Equinox sailing from our port,” said Port Canaveral CEO Captain John Murray. “The addition of this impressive ship coupled with Celebrity Cruise’s brand loyalty continues to expand the number of attractive and enticing options to sail from our Port. We are proud of our growth and the collective success we continue to bring to the Central Florida region.”

To commemorate the ship’s arrival, Canaveral Port Authority Commissioner Fritz VanVolkenburg joined John Murray, Port Canaveral Director and CEO; Captain Nikolaos Frantzis, Captain Celebrity Equinox; and Jennifer Suarez, Vice President of Sales The Americas Celebrity Cruises, for a traditional maritime plaque exchange on board in The Theatre.

Celebrity Equinox will sail from Port Canaveral’s Cruise Terminal 1, offering week-long cruises to some of the Caribbean’s most beautiful and popular destinations, including The Bahamas, Grand Cayman, Mexico, San Juan and St. Marten.

Celebrity Equinox is the second in Celebrity Cruises’ Solstice Series ships. The ship is known for providing guests with a variety of culinary and entertainment choices including more than 20 elevated food and beverage options. Highlight experiences include the Italian-inspired Tuscan Grille and the immersive interactive dining experience offered at Le Petit Chef.  Additional highlights include luxurious accommodations, panoramic views at the Sky Observation Lounge and half an acre of real grass at The Lawn Club
