Update Unleashing the Power of Science Through Skateboarding On November 1st, the Orlando Science Center transforms into a vibrant hub of creativity as skateboarding collides with the wonders of science. Hosted by Skate Bud, along with semi-pro skaters from Galactic G, this event offers a unique exploration into the mathematics and physics that underpin each stunning skateboard trick. Families are invited to dive into hands-on activities that demonstrate how skaters utilize geometry and physics in real time. Get Hands-On with the Techniques of Skating Visitors will have the chance to engage in interactive activities from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Level 1 Clubhouse. Activities like fingerboarding provide a safe micro-scale introduction to skateboarding fundamentals, allowing participants to grasp the physics of balance and movement without the risk often associated with real skateboards. The Science Store also offers fingerboards for mothers and fathers to take home the fun! Meet the Experts and Learn from the Best After the basics, attendees can step into Skateboards 101, where trained instructors from Skate Bud make sure everyone can comfortably learn to balance and ride. This is particularly beneficial for younger children to feel at ease on a board. Later in the day, Galactic G will present jaw-dropping skate demonstrations, showcasing how skills and mathematical principles blend in thrilling fashion. An Exhibit Like No Other: 2theXtreme! The excitement continues as families can explore the exhibit 2theXtreme, available until January 5th. Here, visitors can test their newfound skills in designing skateboards that can perform under pressure.
